"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the US of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon.'
Need I say more?"

Welllll, looks like news is that there's a Cisco Wi-Fi phone due in June - good news for WiFi, bad news for users.
They're completely ignoring the battery issue and they know it
They're completely ignoring the battery issue and they know it
Handhelds are already handicapped with only enough room for a small battery but can still squeeze out a day's worth of use between charges. Adding radios needed to log onto a Wi-Fi or cellular network will dramatically cut the device's lifespan on a single charge, Ro said.Essentially, they think that because they have an audience, then they have a market. This seems just a wee bit skewed to me, but then again, whatever broadens the acceptance of wireless access is good in my view.
He's basing his assessment on experience with a Toshiba e740, a Wi-Fi-enabled handheld. The device needed to be recharged after surfing the Web over a Wi-Fi connection for about 75 minutes, Ro said.
Nonetheless, he said Cisco could have some success in the crowded market because it "owns dozens of accounts that they could sell this to.

This is just too good to pass up! I ran across this review on PalmInfocenter.com where they told me you can WiFi Enable Your Palm with a Case
This bit of vaporware - a hopefully temporary condition - really turned me on! The form factor is right - who needs WiFi hardware on their Palm 24/7? This allows the addition of the hardware only when needed - and keeps your investment safe and secure all the while!
The power drain problem is moot - the unit comes with it's own rechargeable battery to feed the juice-hungry RF circuitry of portable WiFi hardware. This is a great solution for users wanting the speed and flexibility of WiFi for their Palm, but without the cost and the other associated limitations!
Now if we can just get the cost of access down, I'm all over this one come X-mas.
